SURROUND FOR ENGINEERS-THE MAGIC PENTAGON

5.1 FOR FILM PRODUCERS
Hear No Evil has an Euphonix mixing console with the combination of 8 surround mixing buses with full 3D panning, a Genelec 5.1 monitoring syste mand a MagTrax 48 x 8 monitoring router. Hear No Evil control room                   This powerful system gives Hear No Evil the ability to mix music for Dolby Digital, DTS, SDDS, DVD, IMAX: in fact, any surround format  that exists at the present time.

DVD supports 6 channels of discrete audio, ie, left, centre, right, left rear, right rear, and a sub bass, more commonly known as 5.1. All video rental stores now stock films for rental on DVD and consumers have become   used to hearing film soundtracks in surround. Because DVD players also play regular CDs, listeners are inevitably disappointed when they hear their albums in mere stereo! It is therefore important that record companies mix surround versions of their releases ready for issue on DVD and DVD Audio.

Well over 100 million surround sound home entertainment systems have been sold worldwide, and the launch of DVD has been a success story   around the world with all retail hifi stores stocking the hardware with a  catalogue of over five thousand feature films. The recent launch of DVD Audio now gives a specific platform for audio that supports any number of channels at 24 bit/96k. It is vital that the audio industry doesn't fall behind the consumers who are ever demanding more sophistication and higher quality from their home entertainment.

Although some studios working in music-to-picture have a capability of mixing in surround, they are severely limited because they do not have the true ability to dynamically pan sounds around the listening environment. The Euphonix/ MagTrax/ Genelec system at Hear No Evil can do all this and more, with every single function of the console, including EQ and Dynamics, being both fully automated and with split second recall.

The impact of listening to music in a surround format as against normal stereo is so dramatic that it must be experienced. These developments in
listening science are so important to the way we work that we would like to invite you down to Hear No Evil so that we can explain the concepts involved in further detail. We will be happy to demonstrate how the system could enhance your next project at almost no extra cost.
