DOUG GORDON - Composer/Producer/Design Illustrator

After modest success in the '80's writing and performing with his own band, Doug's parallel career as a designer, led him to write music to pictures.

Commissions followed, including the critically acclaimed 'Gaudi - An Act of Kindness' by Patrick Egan.  So integral was the music that the producers acceptance of the Channel 4 commission was conditional that Doug be retained as composer and, unusually, pictures were cut to his music.

He went on to both write the theme, and design the titles for 'Beyond Belief' a chat show hosted by Dr Anthony Clare.
He was involved at the beginning of Acid House music and, in addition to collaborating with Boy George and Steve Overbury, co-wrote and produced, with Nicky Holloway and Pete Tong, the seminal No. 1 dance chart hit 'Sure Beats Working',  along with its follow-up  'Burn Out, Don't Fade Away' for London FFRR Records, which, frankly, bombed.

He has composed for both commercial and corporate clients, and has been Musical Director for a small theatre group.
He has been a composer for twenty years, and so has a vast experience of various musical styles from which to draw.  He has studied Music Composition and Synchronization for Film & Video at WAES, and can score for live musicians as well as using his own recording facilities to meet budgetary and deadline constraints.

Doug has one daughter and lives with his cat near Bankside.

KATE MAYBERRY - Composer

Trained at Westminster Adult Education Institute. Kate has jazz and classical background, although she can write in most styles.

Kate says : "I've written the music for two films for the London International Film
School.  1: Not A Love Story (1998) and 2: Going Blind (1999).  I would like

to score a few short films for independent filmmakers who, like me, are just

starting out.  Of course I would also welcome other projects.  I took

evening classes in jazz theory for three years before moving into film

composition, and before that I studied classical piano and cello for several

years.  My course involved conducting film music recorded by live musicians

as well as all the technical aspects of studio engineering. So I have the

training-- now I just need the credits!"

CHRISTOPHER READ - Composer

To date after years of live gigs and session work Chris is starting to see the rewards of his production and writing skills that have led him into composing music for Film, TV, Radio, New Media and as an artist in his own right releasing material on various labels worldwide.

Whilst studying Graphic Design in the early 90’s at the University of Central England (Birmingham Poly!) Chris became involved in the Arts group ‘Pals Productions’. Here he encouraged kids to become involved in music, and the production of music, by passing on his skills as a musician and producer. Here Chris’s music was used in various Radio 4 programmes and many interactive installations.

Also whilst studying in Birmingham Chris joined the 8-piece Afro band Mau Mau as guitarist and percussionist. Here he played numerous gigs with the highlight being Ronnie Scott’s.

After the band ‘thing ‘Chris became involved in the club scene in Birmingham and Manchester. Hooking up with fellow musicians carving a niche in the club circuit by improvising over the DJ’s. Chris set up the group of musicians called the Bench Players sessioning with the likes of 808 state, Galliano, The Sandals, Ben Wilcox, Anthony Teasdale, Matt Thompson and whole Fat City crew in Manchester. Not to mention the infamous Jam MC’s. Anyone worth there salt throughout the North West knew of there ‘experimental nights’ shall we say…. Here Chris played with Smith & Mighty. Simon Phat Head (Athletico) and many other DJ’s at his long termed residency with the Jam Mc’s

So after eventually moving to London, a now accomplished musician / producer with a HND under his belt in Music technology. Chris hooked up with DJ Simon Pinto and here tailored this towards their personnel projects Open Source / Bench Players. Having their first release on London Based DJ promoter Stuart [Faith/Soulsonic] Patterson’s Transfusion label under the moniker Open Source.

“It's good quality Latin/ jazzy house and will appeal to the lovers of Spiritual Life/Ibadan labels and those who like their house music chilled. Already charted in seven magazines zzzub chart two weeks running and given plays by Ibiza's cooler, more knowledgeable DJ's.”

More recently Chris is putting out some fantastic sexy deep house business on the strictly quality, house label Naked Music over in San Francisco. The Dadhouse Label run by Chris bangs (once producer of Paul Wellar), Boy George’s Label, Third World Disco, and again Boy Georges latest mix CD on the fantastic Trust The DJ series. A remix of a track on the Moving Shadow Label owned by Rob Playford (producer of Goldies Timeless album) by the EZ Rollers - the other remix’s on the EP are by Roni Size and The Amalgamations of Sound.

Chris’s involvement in the feature film Soho Square - which is receiving interest from BBC Films has given him the chance to show his passion for the ‘deeper and darker’ side of orchestrated music. His involvement was to produce and direct the whole musical theme, relying on his now vast contacts within the industry and his classical guitar training. Chris was able to pull together a great score, drawing on his influences such as Dimitri Shostakovich, Henryk Gorecki, Ennio Morricone, Zbigniew Preisner and the more recent Jocelyn Pook (Eyes Wide Shut - Stanley Kubrick) who collaborated on one of the tracks for the film.

Once again Chris Delivered the goods designing and producing the sound effect’s for the Theatre Production of ‘The Crossing’ for the Cassandra Theatre Company. The play has since gone on to tour Europe after leaving the Riverside…gathering rave reviews as it goes!

During all this time Chris also finds time to compose for various TV adverts. working closely with his contacts within Lowe Lintas and Arkwight International advertising agencies. With his friends in the Hip Hop scene Chris produces drops/ Jingles for the Hip Hop Radio show ‘All City’ on XFM Radio, and engineers the annual audio tape for the international Hip Hop magazine (A magazine for ageing B-Boys!!) ‘Fat Lace’ Also composing / producing the corporate Identities for Clients worldwide call centres such as NTL, Boo.com, Telewest, and Shell Oil.
